The wood is fairly hard and heavy, yellowish or Nearly white, strongly scented. It has a woolly surface when sawn, and when sawn fresh it has a very Penetrating smell.
The wood has a high silica content which causes blunting of cutting edges, particularly in dry wood; works reasonably well with hand and machine tools, good veneering properties, finishes well, good gluing properties. Fine dust may irritate nose and throat or cause dermatitis
