About the wood

Heartwood bright or pale yellow darkening slightly on exposure; sapwood narrow, somewhat lighter, barely distinguishable. Grain interlocked giving a stripe figure; texture medium to fairly coarse; luster rather high; has a sweet scent when freshly sawn that does not persist
